Weekly Reset: How You Know It's Working

Here’s the thing nobody tells you about doing the work: it doesn’t always feel like much.
You read the thing. You tried the experiment. Maybe you did the class.
You went about your week, you overrode yourself a couple of times, you caught yourself once or twice, and mostly it just felt like… a regular, slightly mundane Tuesday.
So we decide it’s not flippin’ working.
Except this is exactly what ‘working’ looks like.
Change, I’m sorry to tell you, doesn’t arrive with a brass band. It doesn’t always show up as a breakthrough moment you can screenshot and send to your bestie.
Change mostly shows up as a really boring Tuesday where you managed to pause for half a second before you said an automatic yes.
Change happens in that moment in the car where you noticed you were spiralling and did something tiny about it.
Change happens in that convo where you didn’t abandon yourself quite as fast as you usually do.
It’s all so quiet you probably didn’t even clock it as progress.
But progress, my friend, it firmly is.
You can’t read “your exhaustion comes from tolerating too much” and unhear it the next time you feel that particular kind of drained.
You can’t learn to ask “would the version of me with full energy choose this?” and then never have that question show up again.
It’s already in there. Working away. Even on the Tuesdays that feel like nothing.
Healing, change, becoming a more resilient and a less-stressed person is a bit like learning to play the piano; you don’t just suddenly wake up knowing Beethoven’s Allegro because you’ve heard it a few times. It takes practice and practice and more practice (trust me — that 10-page behemoth has taken me over a year to learn. I have regrets).
