Hey friend. We’re almost there. This is day 6 of The 7-Day Nervous System Reset.

And if your nervous system is anything like mine, you might be feeling a little resistant right now.

Sometimes it’s harder to show up when we’re nearing the end of something. Especially if you’ve missed a day or two (find the others in the series here), especially if you’re a perfectionist, especially if you’re a little overwhelmed as it is (hellooo).

So today, we’re keeping it simple, powerful, and exactly made for where you’re at.

Today is a nervous system re-trainer.

We’re talking about one of the most underrated tools for nervous system health and whole-body strength:

balance.

Balance asks you to be present — not stuck in the past or worrying about what’s next. It invites your brain and body into deep communication. And even when you wobble (especially when you wobble), your nervous system gets better at adapting to challenge without tipping into overwhelm.

In a very real, physical way, physical balancing helps you re-regulate.

But here’s the thing: balance (in both life and in our movement classes) doesn’t mean stillness. It’s not about being perfect or holding some impossible pose. It’s about movement — subtle shifts, gentle recalibrations, the constant dance of coming back to centre.

When you play with balance, you’re literally training your brain to feel safer in small uncertainty. That’s huge. Because when your system learns it can wobble without falling, you build trust — in your body, in the moment, and in yourself.

Physical balance challenges do some seriously beautiful things:

  • They bring your attention fully into the now (the brain can’t plan dinner while you’re standing on one leg).

  • They activate proprioception and the vestibular system — helping your brain feel safe and at home in your body.

  • And they remind you (softly, kindly) that you can wobble and still be okay.

Even a few minutes of this kind of movement can shift your state from overwhelmed to anchored; from overstimulated to stable.

And it’s not about doing it perfectly. It’s about showing your nervous system what dynamic stability feels like.

Whether you move with me or not, here’s your reset practice:

  • Stand tall and notice your feet. Wiggle your toes.

  • Shift your weight slowly from left to right.

  • Then pick up one foot — just a little if balance is a challenge — and notice what it takes to stay balanced.

  • Can you move on-purpose as you balance? Can you even close your eyes?

  • When you lose it, laugh. Try again. Let it be a practice of presence, not perfection. (And this is basic meditation in action, by the way.)

Notice how your foot, ankle, and whole body adjust in micro-movements. That’s your system learning in real time.

This might feel tiny. But your nervous system learns through experience — not information. So this little moment literally teaches safety.
